TYPES OF POETRY :) :)
There are many types of poetry. It can range from love to telling a story. Let's look at a few types....shall we? :)
One of the many types of poetry, is an ABC poem. An ABC poem has a series of lines that create a mood, picture, or feeling. Lines are made up of words and phrases. The first word of line 1 begins with an A, the first word of line 2 begins with a B etc.
Example: A lthough things are not perfect
B ecause of trial or pain
C ontinue in thanksgiving
D o not begin to blame
E ven when the times are hard
F ierce winds are bound to blow
Another type is an Haiku. Haiku Poetry Type is a Japanese poem composed of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Haiku poetry originated in the sixteenth century and reflects on some aspect of nature and creates images.
Example: None is travelling by Basho (1644-1694)
None is travelling
Here along this way but I,
This autumn evening.
The first day of the year:
thoughts come - and there is loneliness;
the autumn dusk is here

My last example is Narrative Poetry. Narrative Poetry is found in different types of poetry such as Ballads, Epics, and Lays. All of these examples are different kinds of narrative poems some of which are the length of a book such as the Song of Hiawatha or the Iliad.
Example of Narrative Poetry - Excerpt
John Barleycorn
by Robert Burns

Three kings both great and high,
And they hae sworn a solemn oath
